Hello everyone, once again I am coming to you with the promise that we are still working on the Injection molding machine project. In these quiet periods where there isn’t much I can show you (be it for proprietary reasons or for a lack of interesting material), I am looking to post a monthly update to show where the business has been, where it is now, and where it is going in the future. I hope this provides you with not only some insight as to what I’ve been working on, but also gives you something to anticipate and come back to. This website and business still isn’t getting alot of traffic yet, but I hope that some of the work I will be doing in the future will spark some interest in the business and what we’re all about.
Where we’ve been:
We’ve been working on developing a prototype injection molding machine for the maker, craftsman, and small business to easily create high quantities of quality parts for cheap. This prototype is already several versions in, and it is begining to develop some features that will make it very appealing when compared to other manufacturing methods or tools in its class. Considering the prototype is made of various aluminum alloys and steel, prototyping proceeds slower than we would like it. This is being overcome however by purchasing the proper tools needed to manufacture prototype components. Another thing that has been instrumental in this prototyping process is the use of on-demand manufacturing services.
Where we are:
The prototype is still coming along as it should be. Some of the newer features that are to be tested require some more complex tooling and are being tackled as promptly as possible. Some of the tools either did not exist in the capacity we wanted, or were too expensive for us to get at the moment. This leads to another recent development. In working on the injection molding machine prototype, we have begun developing several fixtures to help with drilling (relatively) precise holes quickly.
Where we’re going:
While we continue to work on developing the molding machine, we are looking to bring the fixtures that we’ve designed to market. Considering we quickly found the need for them in our shop, you will also likely find many uses for them aswell. We are looking to begin selling V1 on our site sometime in the next few months, but if you would like to try it before then, we are offering a beta testing program.
